Introduction to Surfing in Mallorca

Surfing in Mallorca is all about timing and not taking things too serious. The waves aren’t the best, but fun regardless, for beginners to intermediates. Sometimes it shines, so if you score then, your preparation and opportunity clearly gave you the luck. Yet, when the Mediterranean Sea wakes up, it’s a total vibe. The island is surrounded by the Balearic Sea, and the main reason to pack a board is for those clean, chest-high winter swells.

It’s actually more consistent than people think, some local data, as per the previous video showcased, says you can get surfable days about 175 days a year if you’re willing to drive.

If the waves are flat, which happens a lot in summer, the place is still an absolute playground. By that I mean you can find cliff jumping, which is my only criteria. So, even without a swell, the water is crystal clear, and the lifestyle is top-tier.

Surf Spots and Beaches

Mallorca is mainly split into two sides for waves. A northern and a southern. I will therefore, split the spots into two zones

North Side

Cala Mesquida

Or

San Pedro

Other North Side Waves; Cala Agulla, Canyamel, Cala Ratjada, Platja de Muro, Platja de Son Serra, Puerto de Soller, Aucanada

South Side

Palma

Paguera

Other North Side Waves; Cala Major, Cero, Playa Son Caliu, Sa Rapita, Playa de es Trenc, Cala Mandia

Surf Schools and Camps

The only true surf school, alongside a camp is Bonaona, which I will leave the link right here.
